The Brasov swimmers returned with medals from Prague

After having obtained medals in Germany in February, the swimmers from the Luna Sports Club competed at the beginning of this month alongside other 400 athletes in the International Swimming Competition Arena Prague Cup. The competition took place between the 5 and 7th of June, gathered together 144 girls and 278 competitors from the USA, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, for several age categories. From Brașov, Raul Neama reconfirmed its previous performance and ranked 1st in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke trials, and 2nd in the 400m freestyle and 200m mixed trials. Another athlete from Brasov, Remus Gal ranked 2nd at the 50m butterfly trial, and 3rd at the 100m and 400m freestyle trials. At the 1998 age category, the overall ranking for the Brasov athletes is as it follows: Raul Neama obtained 1st place, and Remus Gal 3rd place. “These are very good results, even better than at the other competitions where we participated in. Over the next period, we will attend the National Championship in Brăila and, basically, with this competition we will end this year’s season”, said George Munteanu, the coach of the club.
